The SMART Scholarship Program provides STEM students with the tools needed to pursue higher education and begin a career with the Department of Defense (DoD). With a full scholarship, students pursuing STEM degrees will be able to focus on complex research to further the DoD’s mission and create lasting impact.

The Army Educational Outreach Program's Junior Solar Sprint (JSS) is an educational program for 5th - 8th grade students with the goal of creating the fastest, most interesting, and best crafted solar-vehicle possible. Students design, build, and race solar-powered cars using hands-on engineering skills and principles of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics; develop teamwork and problem-solving abilities; investigate environmental issues; and gain hands-on STEM skills. SMART Scholarship-for-Service Symposium: Creating Leaders of the Future

Join us for SMART’s annual 3-day symposium! The SMART Scholarship is a combined educational and workforce development opportunity for undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral students currently pursuing a degree in one of the 21 STEM disciplines. Listen, engage, and collaborate with Department of Defense (DoD) science and technology leaders who are charting a course on future priorities, while SMART scholars present their own journeys and technical contributions towards these goals. Representatives from DoD and Academia will meet to discuss how to leverage SMART to expand access to, and broaden diversity within, the future DoD technical workforce.
