AMRDEC: Aeroflightdynamics Directorate
The U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Research, Development, and Engineering Center (AMRDEC) is the Army’s focal point for providing research, development, and engineering technology and services for aviation and missile platforms across the life cycle. As a research directorate under the Aviation Development Directorate, the Aeroflightdynamics Directorate (AFDD) plans, manages, and executes Science and Technology (S&T) related to aeromechanics, dynamics, flight control, cockpit integration, and the conceptual and preliminary design of advanced vertical take-off and landing air vehicles.
AFDD has deep roots in the simulation of rotorcraft flight, as well as wind tunnel and experimental flight testing. The Directorate supports other Research, Development, Test, and Engineering (RDT&E) programs of DoD and NASA in their areas of expertise, as requested.
